My Faith Journey began over 60 years ago

at a little, one-room country church that sat midway between a cotton patch and a shallow creek that rose and spread beyond its banks every good, hard rain. From the main highway you had to drive over J. Taylor Hill another five miles on a bumpy, gravel road to arrive at Shiloh Baptist Church.  The Community was called "DARK CORNER", maybe because on a moonless night it was so dark outside you could not see the back of your hand.

 

Sometimes in retrospect it feels as though I’ve traveled over two billion miles and two lifetimes from “The Old-Time Meeting Place”.  And yet, “The Sweet Experience” that took root and began growing at that old-time-revival meeting on that hot, 1954 July night, has sustained me in every circumstance throughout those many miles and lifetimes.  

 

Whether a testing time to be “Standing In The Line Of Fire”, or a crying out time of “Here I Am In This Valley”, whether a valley of regret when HE took my pieces and “Blew Them To The Wind” or times when HE reminded me, “My God (was) Forsaken” so that I would never be! …….. In every circumstance!  God always gave “Amazing Grace In Midnight Hours”.

 

“I Will Praise You” always, my LORD, my SAVIOR, my FRIEND, for this ONE WOMAN’S JOURNEY.

 

And you, Dear Friends, are invited to experience the story from songs you never heard but now, maybe you will.  The beginning at the little country church, the many years of singing and writing gospel music, the emotional and mental breakdown, the brokenness of the perfect marriage, the years in Nashville singing and writing, the wonderful Texas years singing with the Websters…Yes, from the beginning, I heard all “The Pretty Music” of my life; so I wrote down what I could….. for my quiet reflection and, hopefully, your enjoyment.
